How QVC Saved our Family Tradition | Our Business Birth Story

As parents, we're constantly reminded of how quickly time flies as we watch our little ones grow. Like many parents, we wanted to document every smile, every milestone, and every new discovery. From the moment our first son entered our lives, we were captivated by his every move.

Capturing those precious moments becomes a cherished tradition, and for us, it started with milestone photos. My sister gifted him a pack of adorable milestone onesies, planned out based on the season and how old he’d be. I snapped milestone photos month after month - in his high chair, outside in the sunshine, nestled in his crib, perched on a chair, and sprawled out on a cozy blanket.

Those photos became treasured memories, a visual timeline of his growth and development, and I adored every single one. After the first year, I tucked the onesies away, anticipating the arrival of a sibling someday.

When our second son came along, I was so excited to open the box and restart the tradition of milestone photos. But as I unfolded the first month, I was met with a bittersweet realization. Time had taken its toll, leaving behind stains and signs of wear. Not to mention that the seasons didn’t match, and our new babe was nearly twice the size of our first little peanut.

At first, I tried to make do. I squeezed the new guy into the one-month onesie without snapping it together and put him in little shorts to hide the gap. It worked, but it was far from perfect.

It was during a late-night feeding a few days later, bleary-eyed and exhausted, that inspiration struck. As I flipped through channels (we were seriously late adopters of streaming services), I stumbled on a QVC commercial for the Cricut machine. In that split second, a decision was made.

I wasn’t sure what I needed it for, but I knew I needed it. Have you ever felt that way?! It’s almost scary how I ordered that machine without hesitation.

The week it arrived, I dove headfirst into the world of crafting, armed with little more than determination, paper scraps, and a desire to create something meaningful.

Luckily, my husband has an interest in making, and a love for woodworking. He had some scrap wood in the garage, and within a few hours, those hunks of wood became something amazing with the help of the Cricut.

Our milestone photo tradition transformed into something beautiful: milestone blocks that captured our son's first year in a way that the onesies couldn’t. The blocks would grow with us beyond the first 12 months into the school years, they wouldn’t stain, and size didn’t matter. They were downright perfect for us.

What started as a simple DIY project quickly evolved into a passion, a creative outlet that brought us joy and fulfillment. We poured our hearts and souls into the blocks, refining our techniques and expanding our skills.

And so, with a leap of faith and a whole lot of coffee, we officially launched our business.

The journey hasn't always been easy. Balancing parenthood with entrepreneurship comes with its own set of challenges, from late nights in the workshop to juggling orders while tending to the needs of young kids. But through it all, our love for what we do has remained.

Today, our business has grown beyond our wildest dreams. What started as a simple idea born out of a desire to preserve memories has blossomed into a business that brings joy to families around the world. Our keepsake blocks have become beloved heirlooms, cherished by parents and grandparents alike as they celebrate the milestones of their little ones.

Looking back on our journey, we feel so grateful for the opportunity to turn our passion into a business. Every piece we create is a labor of love, a testament to the power of family, and a reminder of the precious moments that make life truly special. As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain committed to our mission of helping families create memories that last a lifetime.
