Installation

Measure 6 feet up from the floor and insert the hanging hardware of your choice; anchor and drywall screws are recommended. A D-Ring and wall protectors are pre-installed on your ruler.

Avoid hanging near sources of heat or moisture as this can cause the wood to swell which can lead to cracking, bowing, or changes in the finish.

Materials

All of our pieces use real solid wood. We do not use plywood or pressed/engineered wood.

Because these are real, solid wood, and handmade, each piece will be unique. We make no attempts to hide Mother Nature's kisses (knots, marks, swirls, or varying grain patterns).

Pieces made from natural wood may shift slightly due to temperature and humidity; this is normal and should be expected from season to season.

Care

Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid the use of harsh chemicals and household cleaners to protect the natural finish. Dings, dents, smudges, or fingerprints may be sanded out.

*Do Not Sand White or Stained wood

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I hang the ruler?

A D-Ring and wall protectors are pre-installed on your ruler. Measure 6 feet up from the floor and insert the hanging hardware of your choice; anchor and drywall screws are recommended.

Avoid hanging near sources of heat or moisture as this can cause the wood to swell which can lead to cracking, bowing, or changes in the finish.

What marker or pen should I use?

The marker or pen we recommend varies based on the wood type. This blog post shows examples on different wood species :Pen & Marker Examples

Can it start from the floor or use a different scale?

Our marks begin at a 6 inch mark and run 5 feet up from there. For example, we can go from 6" to 5'6", 1'6" to 6'6" (default), or 2'6" to 7'6".

We are unable to start measurements from the floor or a full a foot mark (0', 1', 2' etc.)

Can it be longer, taller, or wider?

At this time we're limited to a 5 foot span that's 6 inches wide.

My ruler got sauce/dirt/stray marks on it. What can I do?

If you have a ruler in its natural form (not painted or stained), a damp cloth can be used to clean it. You can also sand the area without harming the finish.

If your ruler is stained or painted, first try cleaning the area. Do not attempt sanding. Rubbing alcohol should remove permanent marker from white rulers, though it does remove the sheen as well. In some cases, it may be best to paint over or restain an area.

How long do rulers take to ship?

We do our very best to ship within 4 business days. Transit typically takes 2 to 7 days from there, depending on your zip code and your distance from us in Ohio.

How do I attach the arrows?

We recommend a little wood glue, super glue, or even school glue that dries clear. Once your arrow is in place, a little bit of painter's tape can be used to hold it in place while it dries.

Can the words go in the opposite direction?

Sure! By default, we attach personalization starting from the 6 foot mark and head downward.

If you'd like your personalization to start lower and head up toward the top, please specify this in the notes box at checkout: FLIP ORIENTATION

Will it run into my baseboards?

The lowest mark is 1'6", which typically allows plenty of space for baseboards.

I spelled a name wrong, help!

Orders are typically sent to the printer within 2 business days. If your order has not yet been processed for printing, we can make adjustments. However, if your order has already moved to printing, we will not be able to correct the mistake without a new order.

What if my ruler arrives damaged?

On the off-chance your ruler has a rough ride getting to you, please reach out to us within 7 business days. We'll work with you to find the best resolution, which may include a replacement or a refund. In some cases, we may provide supplies for minor cosmetic fixes, only if a customer feels confident in their DIY skills.

It is absolutely beautiful. Haven’t hung it yet, but it is high quality. My only disappointment was the white oak was much lighter than I was anticipating. It will have to work, but disappointed in myself for spending so much on something I’m not 100% sold on.

Just to clarify, this mama originally intended to order a white oak ruler but purchased a maple one instead, which is naturally a much lighter wood. We offered to arrange an exchange, but she chose to keep the maple. If you ever need help with the ordering process, we're always happy to assist—just send us a message!
